Housed in the train station building, constructed by Victor Laloux for the 1900 World Fair, the Orsay Museum houses a superb collection of French impressionist and post-impressionist works, making it a must-see for any art lover.
The Orsay Museum, or Musee d'Orsay, displays France's national collection of paintings, sculptures, objets d'art produced between 1848 and 1914, including the fruits of the impressionist, post-impressionist, and art nouveau movements.
The Orsay Museum is one of the most popular museums in Paris, situated within easy walking distance of the Louvre on the other side of the River Seine.
The standard ticket is for full-day access to the Orsay Museum. In overview the museum is open daily, except Mondays and certain public holidays. Its opening times are from 9.30am to 6pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and 9.30am to 9.45pm on Thursdays. There are concessionary ticket prices for entry after 4.30pm (6pm on late night openings on Thursdays).

The Orsay Museum is located on the south bank of the River Seine. By Paris Metro line 12, to Solferino is within 5 minutes' walk.
Directly opposite the Orsay Museum is a RER station named after the Museum. Trains from here go to Versailles and in the other direction St Michel, opposite Notre dame Cathedral and good interconnections with the Metro.
All of the popular Paris hop on, hop off sightseeing buses stop here and the Batobus river bus service also has a stop right in front of the Orsay Museum, (see image top of page).
The Orsay Museum is within a 10-minute walk of Notre Dame and the Louvre Museum.
